Enlarging your Eyes with Makeup

Posted by wlite as Beauty

If you have ever seen any before-and-after makeup celebrity pictures, you might have noticed that their eyes seem to be larger after makeup; not only large, in fact, but also luminous. So what are the secrets behind enlarged eyes look?

1. Curl the eyelashes
Curled eyelashes can give enlarged eyes look. If you do not have long, perfect eyelashes, you can curl them after you apply the mascara to open up your eyes. Contrary to the common belief, you can curl your eyelashes after applying the mascara, as long as the mascara has dried. You can blast the eyelash curler for about 3 seconds with a hair dryer to give extra staying power, but do not forget to test the heat of the metal before you clamp your eyelashes with it.

As for the lower eyelashes, mascara can give enlarging effect for some women, but shrinking effect to others. Try for yourself to find it out. To apply mascara on lower lashes, hold the brush vertically, and then sweep it back and forth. If you wear eyeliner on the lower lashes, try a pencil eyeliner, which tends to be softer. Then smudge the line with your finger so it looks more natural than a straight line.

2. Light eyeshadow
Many makeup artists suggest to apply a bit of light eyeshadowright at the inside ridge of the eye, where the upper lid meets the bottom lid, near the tear duct. This is an old beauty secret of makeup artists and if you look closely at photos of celebrities on red carpets you can see that tell-tale white in the inside corner of their eyes. For a doe-eyed, seductive look, makeup artist Paul Starr suggests in Harper’s Bazaar that you try lining your lower lids with a creamy white eye pencil.

3. Manicure the brows
Many women do not want to do tweezing or waxing on their brows since they think that their eyebrows are fine. However, a little bit of eyebrow manicure can do you no harm, and can hugely transform your look by accentuating your eyes. Ask professionals’ help for waxing, tweezing or threading and then keep it up with touch-ups with your own tweezers by following the “map” they create.
