After treatment the area will be covered by a small scab that should fall off after one week; to ensure optimal healing it is recommended that follow-up appointments be scheduled regularly so the wound can heal properly.

Electrocautery

With an electric current powered hand-held device heated by heat, this treatment burns away skin lesions such as overgrown solar keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, nevi and some raised moles. After treatment the area will form into a shallow white scab that will eventually flake off on its own in several weeks’ time.

This method of removal is often recommended for moles that appear suspicious; your dermatologist can send off for biopsy to make sure that they do not harbour precancerous or cancerous cells. Furthermore, it’s an ideal procedure for people with sensitive skin as it doesn’t cause as much pain as excision does.
