Essay editor as a modern way to earn online on maternity leave
- April 3, 2024
Whether it’s self-quarantine or adherence to local protocols, people have been spending more time at home these days.
If you’re looking for productive alternatives to creative activities like embroidery, below are some home project ideas you can try out. You can do these projects by yourself or with your family or roommates.
1. Do some indoor cleaning
Almost everyone is pre-occupied with cleaning and sanitation nowadays. But instead of just washing your hands and taking a shower right away after coming home, start fully committing to cleaning tasks that often get pushed back.
Clean up the bedroom and check the underside of the bed for any dirt and dust. Change up old sheets and curtains.
Check your air ducts and vents for heavy dust accumulation. In some cases, mold or mildew builds up in these areas. Don’t forget to clean the air filter in your air conditioning unit as well.
But don’t stop with these suggestions. Find other areas in your home that haven’t been cleaned in a while.
The pandemic has forced us to hunker down in our homes. But on the bright side, this has allowed us to turn our time and attention to frequently neglected chores.
2. Revamp the living room
Since you’re spending most of your time at home, you may be getting tired of seeing the same old layout in the living room. Why not change things up?
Experiment with a new setup for the sofa. Instead of having it face the TV screen, try positioning it closer to the living room bookshelves to encourage yourself to do some focused reading.
Speaking of reading, it’s worthwhile to shake-up your book arrangement and move things around. This is a good opportunity to declutter and keep your favorite or frequented titles.
Additionally, you can also switch up your living room rugs. You can either find an appropriate substitute from another room or purchase an entirely new one.
3. Get into outdoor and yard work
It can be maddening to stay indoors all the time. Home projects that are done outside of the house can help you get some sunlight and fresh air.
If you haven’t gotten around to doing it, it may be time to do some lawn mowing. Check your shrubs and other perennials to see if they need some edging and trimming.
And while you’re outside check your gutters and downspouts to see if they’re still in good condition. If there’s damage or misalignment, you may need to invest in some self-drilling sheet metal screws and hidden fasteners to fix the issue.
Once autumn comes and leaves start falling in large numbers, it’s a good time to start cleaning and preventing clogs in the yard drain.
4. Spruce up your walls
If outdoor work isn’t your strong suit, there’s no shame in going back inside and focusing on indoor projects. In particular, your walls may need some updating.
If you’re up for it, get a can of paint that matches your wall’s color and style. Identify areas throughout the house where there’s fading (e.g. door frames and baseboards) and do a paint touch up.
Additionally, revisit your wall hangings (e.g. photos, artwork, travel memorabilia) to see if everything is in order. If you want to a fresh new look, consider transferring some items to a different room.
