A woman’s body is the blessing of nature. Different things happen in her body at different ages of her life. Among the many stages right from baby to older women, menopause is a stage that every woman passes by.
In general, a woman is born with a finite number of eggs that are stowed in the ovaries. The ovaries are also responsible for making the progesterone and estrogen hormones. These hormones are responsible for controlling the two important functions happening in a woman’s body and they are nothing, but ovulation and menstruation. Menopause happens to a woman when her ovaries stop releasing eggs every month, which, in turn, stops the menstruation.
Menopause is a normal part of aging that happens in women after their 40 years. However, some women might undergo the menopause early in their life. This can be the result of surgery, hysterectomy or damage to the ovaries. The ovaries are damaged due to treatments like chemotherapy. In the case of menopause before 40 years, irrespective of the cause, it is referred to as premature menopause.
It is a normal condition that refers to any changes that take place in a woman’s body either just before or after she stops menstruating. When menopause happens, it is an indication that her reproductive period comes to an end.
Even though there is no menopause treatment, there are treatments to reduce the symptoms. The menopause is a period that has multiple stages. In fact, it is a three-stage process that includes the following:
Perimenopause: This state starts several years before the menopause. This happens when the ovaries start to reduce the production of estrogen gradually. This stage extends up to menopause stage when the ovaries completely stop producing eggs. In the final 1-2 years of this stage, the drop of estrogen happens at a faster pace. So, women start experiencing symptoms at this stage.
Menopause: This is the second stage. It is the stage when one year has passed after her last period for a woman. At this stage, the ovaries have stopped producing eggs and starts making most of the estrogen.
Postmenopause: This period denotes several years after menopause. At this stage, symptoms of menopause like hot flashes are completely gone. But, with age the health risk associated with lack of estrogen.
Premature menopause is something that happens in women before their 40 years. It can occur as a result of an autoimmune disorder or even it can occur due to some medical procedures are taken for other condition. Here are the other conditions that can lead to premature menopause:
Most women experience hot flashes when they near their menopause. They will have a sudden feeling of warmth that spreads over the upper body. This is generally associated with sweating and blushing. The hot flashes can be mild in some women, while they can be severe in some.

However, all women will not experience these symptoms of menopause. Some might experience some, while others might experience other symptoms.
To figure out whether a woman is in menopause or not based on the symptoms experienced, the doctor might suggest some blood tests. Based on the results, the doctor will identify whether the symptoms are due to menopause or because of some other reasons.
