If you are an independent woman, you’ve probably heard people say things like, “you’re scary” or “you intimidate me.” And while that may seem offensive, especially if you can’t understand what they mean, it also shows how strong your aura can be.
5 Reasons Why Independent Women Seem Intimidating
Often, intimidation comes from too much independence. And if a woman is highly independent, it shows in her actions that she doesn’t need anyone. She’s intelligent and superior without making an effort.
That said, let’s talk about why independent women seem intimidating.
1. She makes her own money
The common denominator of many independent women is that they can make their own money. They are financially independent and don’t rely on anyone to support their financial needs. Did you know that about 40% of women have jobs in professional or management fields? Regardless of the wage gap between men and women, there’s no doubt that more women nowadays can make a living independently.
Modern women are more capable of working full time, enabling them to support themselves. And while it may feel great to have a man shower you with gifts or help pay the bills, you are totally fine doing these things yourself. As we all know, men like it when needed, so when a woman shows that she doesn’t need a man, they feel intimidated.
2. She is not emotionally dependent
Most women who can finance themselves are not emotionally dependent on men. Why? Because a woman who has survived struggles doesn’t need the ratification of a man to feel great about herself. She is strong, and she owns it.
And even though it feels utterly lovely to hear kind words from men, she doesn’t need to hear that she is strong or pretty from anyone else because she knows she is. She has already proven that she is strong and can get through anything alone.
When she feels down, she ensures to acknowledge her emotions and create plans in making herself feel better. However, an independent woman is often dependable. If you need a friend to talk to or someone to go with you in your palliative care plans and sessions, she will always be willing to support you.
3. She is a badass
Many men are intimidated by independent women because they are straightforward. She will say straight to your face if you’re being a pain in the ass and if she’s not okay with what you are doing. If you are starting to annoy her, she will let you know.
Additionally, she knows what she wants. And she will never settle for anything less than she deserves. Part of her rules is to always lay everything out from the beginning: what she expects, her feelings, and the deal-breakers. Indeed, she can forgive for minimal mistakes and first-time offenses but beware of asking for a second chance. She barely gives it.
4. She is intelligent and mature, and that can be scary
Men, in general, like to be superior. They love being right, and they take pride in teaching women things only they can teach. But it’s the same for women. We can all agree that most women always want to be right. They do whatever it takes to prove that they are correct.
Many men find it hard to be in a relationship with smart and mature women because they do not like the feeling of inferiority. They don’t like it when a woman is more competent than them. However, this doesn’t mean that a woman should make herself look stupid to please a man. The point here is that when a woman makes a valid point, it makes a man feel dumb, and nobody likes that feeling.
Both genders may have difficulty accepting inferiority, but remember that learning to compromise is the key to successful relationships. So, both men and women should know significant adjustments to be made once you enter a serious relationship.
5. She doesn’t need a man
Lastly, an independent woman can seem intimidating because she doesn’t need a man to live her life. She is happy, contented, and finding a man to spend the rest of her life with is just icing on the cake. Yes, she wants you to be a part of her life, but she doesn’t need you.
Independent women are self-reliant and hardworking individuals. They can get whatever they need without your help. And this can be a very intimidating situation for men because, as mentioned, men love to be needed. If a man intends to date an independent woman, he must know that she is different and resourceful.
Being an independent woman can be intimidating for other people, but it is also a fulfilling and rewarding lifestyle. She may not need a man to offer himself to her as a whole, but she appreciates what a man can contribute. It’s simple, if she cooked you dinner, feel free to wash the dishes.
