Make a paste of neem leaves and apply it to your hair and scalp. After keeping it for few minutes rinse it and comb for nits. You can also massage your hair with neem oil and wash it after an hour.
Lemon juice
Will lemon juice kill lice? Due to the acidic nature of lemon juice, it helps in killing lice. Apply lemon juice on your scalp and wait for at least half an hour. Rinse off with vinegar and water and keep repeating the same process weekly.
You can also mix a paste of garlic cloves to a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Apply it on the head massage your head. Wrap your head with a towel and leave it like that for at least an hour then wash your hair with shampoo. Repeat this process in alternate days to get rid of lice permanently.
Petroleum jelly
It is known to clog the breathing holes of lice and suffocate them to death. Apply a thick layer of Vaseline or any other petroleum jelly on your scalp and leave it overnight by covering your hair with a shower cap. Then the next morning remove the petroleum jelly with baby oil and then wash your hair with shampoo. Later comb and take out the dead lice.
Olive oil
Olive oil is easily available as it is a very common ingredient in the kitchen these days. It is known as an excellent smothering agent. This leads lice to get suffocated to death. Apply it on your scalp and leave it overnight by covering it up with a shower cap. Next day wash your hair with shampoo and comb out the lice.
Apple cider vinegar
The benefits of Apple cider vinegar has a long list! Due to the acetic acid present in it, it kills the lice along with the eggs. Just apply it on your scalp and leave it for an hour. Then rinse it with shampoo. Also, remember that before applying it dilute it with water. White vinegar is also recommended.

Pyrethrum
Pyrethrum is derived from chrysanthemum flowers that have natural insecticides known as pyrethrins. Pyrethrins directly attack the nervous system of lice and kill them. Well, you cannot get pyrethrum as a different product so buy shampoos which has pyrethrum as a major ingredient.
Apply it in your hair and wait for few minutes (not more than 10 minutes) and add water and rinse like you normally do than comb for nits. Apply again after 7-10 days so those remaining lice are also removed. In case of any allergic reactions stop using it immediately and consult a doctor.
Permethrin lotion
It also works in a similar way as pyrethrum. It is a synthetic version of pyrethrins. After shampooing your hair apply this lotion and remember don’t put conditioner. Leave it for ten minutes, rinse and then comb out the nits. You should repeat the process after seven days as lice don’t vanish totally after applying medicines for a single time.
Spinosad
Studies say that this works better than permethrin and your head will become lice free within 14 days. Spinosad is again a natural insecticide that is derived from a kind of bacteria. Anyone less than 4 years old should not be treated with this ingredient.
Coat your scalp properly with the liquid and massage it thoroughly in your hair from roots to the tip of your hair strands. Leave it for ten minutes, rinse and then comb for nits. You can have eye and skin irritation, in that case, consult a doctor before applying it.
Ivermectin
An ingredient derived from bacteria that paralyzes and kills lice along with the eggs. It can be applied to anyone above six months of age. More than one application of the lotion is needed and results have shown that in case of this lotion any kind of allergic reactions or irritation is very rare.
Apply this lotion in your scalp and hair and rinse it after 10 minutes. Comb for nits.
Benzyl alcohol lotion
It can make your head lice free within 14 days after the second application. It can be applied to anyone above six months of age.
Apply the lotion in dry hair and on your scalp and wait for 10 minutes. Then rinse your hair and apply shampoo. Use a nit comb to remove the lice.
